"Never lose sight of the things that make you unique as a student/future physician . If there are hobbies that you love doing, keep doing those during medical school because it will definitely help you cope with the challenges that students face. Also, your unique qualities are what set you apart from each applicant so stay true to yourself and trust the process"

How Timnit Gerbu is advancing A.I research!

You can have any background and work in this field. Math, physics, computer science, social science, anthropology, history. In fact we are in dire need of people from different backgrounds and perspectives. I'm currently collaborating with a history student. Don't let people intimidate you. Try to see how you can apply your expertise to the field, or if you want to learn, start from some coursera classes, or some of the classes offered at e.g. Sanford (like CS231n) where all the material is online. fast.ai has a great program and resources. Try to work on a personal project and have a study group. And don't be afraid to start from scratch.
